Monroe Ave Pharmacy & Specialty Compounding is the newest full service pharmacy specializing in human and animal compounding on Monroe Avenue in the town of Brighton. We provide valuable services to physicians and their patients by compounding prescriptions following a custom formula that may not be available commercially. Our pharmacy features personalized service; private consultation room; and orthotic and surgical supplies.
Specialty Compounding
Compounding a prescription uniquely ordered for you by the physician, our pharmacist can prepare a "customized" medication in a special compounding laboratory, using the latest techniques and devices available. The pharmacist then compounds the medication in a special dosage form or delivery system suited for the patient. For example, the pharmacist can prepare the medication using several unique delivery systems, such as a sublingual troche or lozenge, a lollipop, or a transdermal gel, cream or ointment. Or, for those patients who are having a difficult time swallowing a capsule, the pharmacist can make a suspension instead.
There are several reasons why pharmacists compound prescription medications. Some patients may be allergic to preservatives or dyes, or are sensitive to standard drug strengths. With a physician’s consent, a compounding pharmacist can change the strength of a medication and alter its dosage form to make it easier for the patient to ingest.
Delivery Available
We offer home delivery of your prescriptions to the local Rochester, New York areas of Brighton, Henrietta, and Pittsford; or if you are out of our delivery area, we can also have your prescription shipped to you. Your doctor can also contact us directly by telephone at 585-271-7716, fax us at 585-461-9175, or have your prescription electronically e-prescribed to the pharmacy.
